Greenleigh at Crossroads is barreling toward its mixed-use future as construction activity is proceeding on multiple fronts.

On Monday, the 1,000-acre, $750M megaproject in White Marsh opened its first hotel, a SpringHill Suites by Marriott with 120 rooms that already has 500 reservations booked, the Baltimore Business Journal reports. St. John Properties is developing Greenleigh with partners Somerset Development and Elm Street Development.

Next door, SJP recently broke ground on a 100K SF speculative office building that it expects to complete in 2019. SJP signed Stanley Black & Decker to a 77K SF lease at the newest completed building at Greenleigh in February. That building was also built on spec, and its success in leasing served to increase the joint venture's confidence that further development is warranted.

A stone's throw away, Bozzuto is building and pre-leasing a 317-unit apartment building on Greenleigh land — to be called the Berkleigh — is anticipated to deliver in June. Around 1,000 townhouses and single-family homes for sale are also under construction, as are 500 additional multifamily units. At full build-out, SJP anticipates 2.5M SF of commercial development for Greenleigh at Crossroads, including future industrial product.

All that density, especially in office, underscored the need for a hotel, SJP Marketing Manager Rebecca Lee told the BBJ, and with the SpringHill Suites, the development now has one with both short- and long-term options. The $17M hotel is owned by Middle River Hotel Partnership.
