A German shipping company is establishing its North American headquarters in Central Perimeter.

Hapag-Lloyd has leased 127K SF at Three Ravinia Drive, one of a trio of pagoda-like office towers off Ashford-Dunwoody Road, in a deal that has the firm not only establishing its U.S. headquarters at the building, but also investing $18M. It plans to add 250 jobs over the next few years, according to a Georgia Department of Economic Development press release.

The lease runs for 15 years and is expected to start in the third quarter of next year. Hapag-Lloyd owns its Hapag-Lloyd Quality Service Center at 5515 Spalding Drive in Peachtree Corners, where it invested $5.5M and said it would create 360 jobs in 2018. Its local employees currently work out of that building, but a CBRE spokesperson confirmed the shipper plans to move its employees to the Dunwoody office tower.

Hapag-Lloyd plans to create 250 additional jobs with the move, according to a press release from building owner Preferred Apartment Communities.

A source familiar with the move tells Bisnow that Hapag-Lloyd plans to put the service center up for sale as it plans to move to Dunwoody.

“Our new headquarters will allow us to bring more of our team together, under one roof, to better serve our customers and expand career pathways for our staff. We look forward to growing, and thriving, in Atlanta,” Hapag-Lloyd President Uffe Ostergaard said in a press release.

CBRE Senior Vice President Kyle Kenyon represented PAC, while CBRE Senior Vice President Ellen Stern, Vice Chairmen Sam Holmes and Jon Springer, and Senior Vice President Andrew Kaplan brokered the deal for Hapag-Lloyd. The lease brings Three Ravinia to 94% leased, according to PAC's press release.
