PIEDMONT NEWNAN GETTING MOB

Exactly one week until our Seniors Housing Summit. That's probably not enough time for you to age 30 years and get a room at Shady Pines. So if you want in-depth chatter about seniors housing, our event is your best option. April 28 at the Westin Buckhead. Sign up today!

Metro Atlanta will see a new MOB. This time, it's a little farther outside the city center.

We snapped Quantum CRE's David Strickland, right, last night at the Young Council of Realtors' Happy Hour at The Buckhead Saloon. He tells us his company's co-marketing a new 60k SF medical office building under way across from Piedmont Hospital Newnan with Eastwood Real Estate. Above, he's with DeKalb Office's Lynn Bollins, Richard Bowers & Co's Grahame Wood, Pope & Land'sJennifer Kootz, and Carter's Sarah Peddar, just a handful of theindustry pros on hand last night.

YCR wasn't all about the new faces. Here we have Barry Real Estate's Andy Sumlin, Cushman & Wakefield's Aileen Almassy, and Alan Joel of Joel & Granot. Alan told us he recently renewed The Coalition America for 48k SF at Two Concourse Corporate Center, helping the firm save $500k in new lease term. We learned that Alan's lifelong dream is to attend the Burning Man event in South Africa. Pretty cool, right? And note Alan's gold badge. As Thomson Reuters' Fernando Calvo says, ?You aren't going to see these events getting any younger. The gold badges are for the ones who survived.?
Event sponsor Veenendaalcave's Jeanette Myers and Ed Cave with healthcare design team director Jodi Borges. Jodi says she's pleased to be working on a new primary care and dental clinic, Nihon, that will service Japanese citizens in Atlanta according to the health requirements of their home country.

THE BIG 9-0

Another of the new Buckhead towers is almost full (even if it's a little hard to tell from this vantage). After consummating the 6k SF deal with Fried Rogers Goldberg, Two Alliance Center is approaching90% leased, with 50k remaining. Tishman Speyer's Chris Ahrenkieltells us the 500k SF trophy tower's largest remaining block is 14,500 SF. This will be the second of the new Buckhead towers to fill up after the development cycle began in 2008, behind 3344 Peachtree.

A MASTER SHOWING

Lest you think the Masters in Augusta doesn't really draw people from all over the country, let us give you a small example. Here's a pic taken on the greens of Augusta National during this month's tournament. We have on the standing row Dallas NAI Robert Lynn'sMichael Stanzel; NAI Brannen Goddard's Bob Burdell; NAI Pittsburgh's Patrick Sentner; Indianapolis NAI Global's Brett Spitzer; the legendary Mitchell Brannen with NAI Brannen Goddard here; Duke Realty's Corey Richardson; NYC NAI Global's Paul Waters; NAI Robert Lynn's Michael Denton; Duke's Brian Sutton; and kneeling, NAI Long Island's John LaRuffa; and NAI Robert Lynn's Rick Medinis and Tyson Erwin. That's six different US geographical areas converged on a small town in Middle Georgia to watch a bunch of guys swing golf clubs. And it was totally worth the trip, we're sure (and jealous).

MEET OUR SPONSOR:
PKY PROPERTIES

Parkway Properties has been on a roll, and its recently announced$462M agreement to combine with Eola Capital is a good example of how it's taking an offensive approach to the real estate market, says Chris Breeden, Parkway?s VP and asset manager in Atlanta. The combination includes Eola?s managed portfolio and the purchase of six office buildings by Parkway?s Fund II, including Two Ravinia Drive in Atlanta. This comes on the heels of Parkway?s purchase of3344 Peachtree just a few months ago. Upon completion of the combination, Parkway expects to have a total of 9.5M SF of wholly owned properties, 6.7M SF of properties in fund or JV structures and another 12.7M SF that will be managed and/or leased for third-party owners. In Atlanta, Parkway will own and/or manage 7.7M SF. Find out more about Parkway Properties here.
