TORO! TORO!
He's built massive shopping centers. He's established entire retail regions (think Camp Creek). He's grabbed one of Atlanta's most prominent retail  complexes (Atlantic Station Village). He scoops up tall buildings with a single penstroke. And now Mark Toro is going multifamily, for truth, justice, and North American Properties.

NORTH american properties mark toro old fourth ward freedom parkway bisnow atlanta multifamily
We spoke Friday with CRE Superman himself, Mark (snapped at a recent Bisnow event), who confirms for us that North American is pursuing land in Atlanta's Old Fourth Ward district for a 260-unit, Class-A apartment complex  with planned amenities that may include a small retail component. Mark declined to ID the specific parcel until the deal is closed. While a  first in Atlanta, Mark says North American is very experienced with multifamily across the country, with 13k units company-wide both developed and owned, including in Dallas and Cincinnati. And now it will be an ongoing focus in Atlanta with former Gables Residential VP  Richard Munger heading up Toro's multifamily efforts in the Southeast. North American will have an in-town focus, Mark tells us, while (aside from the recently acquired Prospect Park) new retail development will ?only be in very select circumstances.?
