DUKE LEAVES CRE
One of our industry's  endearing vets has finally called it quits to return to his family—his military family that is. Duke Doubleday officially retired from Ackerman & Co and from his CRE career. We spoke yesterday with Duke, who tells us he instead has become a partner in a Suburban Lodge hotel right outside the gates of Ft. Benning, a hotel that services Army personnel and their families. "I've been doing commercial brokerage for 43 years. That's long enough," Duke says. "The most fun I have in may day-to-day life is working with soldiers and their family. There's nothing I'd rather do than spend the rest of my many, many more years with the Army community." Duke also has just been reappointed to a six-year term as a Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army.

In an email announcing his retirement, Ackerman & Co's Keene Miller (left, with  Kris Miller) said, "When I started in the industry 28 years ago, Duke was already an established and respected figure in the business. He became one of the pre-eminent brokers  of his generation in Atlanta." Bisnow wishes Duke well in his endeavors.
