WIS Golden Gala!
Saturday we went to Washington International School Golden Gala at Mellon Auditorium to raise funds for financial aid. We snapped gala co-chairs Jennifer Camel-Toueg and Isabel Ernst flanking her husband, past board member and Georgetown professor Ricardo Ernst.
Founded 50 years ago, WIS was one of the first schools in the US to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. Today, the student body and faculty represent more than 90 countries. Here, Valentine & Co president Jim Valentine, Institute for Education CEO Kathy Kemper, Center for Global Development's Michele De Nevers and CUNY's Branko Milanovic.
Over 500 guests, including the current head and all six former heads of school, enjoyed a cocktail reception, dinner and post-dinner dancing. During the weekend, the WIS community raised over $500k for financial aid for annual giving, including $335k during the gala's Fund-A-Student auction and $114k in the online auction. Here, World Bank's Maryla Maliszewska with her husband, Wojciech, and Ambassador of Hungary Réka Szemerkényi.
