Smokey Robinson!
Last night, we headed to DAR Constitution Hall for the eighth annual Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song!
We snapped the honoree, Motown legend Smokey Robinson, and his wife, Frances Glandney, prior to the VIP reception and program.
In making the selection for the prize, the Librarian of Congress consulted leading members of the music and entertainment communities. Here, R&B singer Bebe Winans with the newly confirmed Librarian of Congress, Dr. Carla Hayden.
The Gershwin Prize honors a living musical artist’s lifetime achievement in promoting the genre of song as a vehicle of cultural understanding; entertaining and informing audiences; and inspiring new generations. Here, legendary Motown producer Berry Gordy talking about his and Smokey's early years collaborating.
