Smithsonian Craft2Wear!

Friday night, we headed to the National Building Museum for the Smithsonian's Craft2Wear Friends Night Out.

Smithsonian Craft2Wear is produced by the Smithsonian Women’s Committee, an all-volunteer organization that supports the programs of the Smithsonian Institution. We snapped supporter Sheila Stampfli with David Low and his wife, event co-chair Nancy Low. 

NIH's Julie Cooper and Howard Hughes Medical Institute's Bodo Stern and Vic Nathan bookend designer Starr Hagenbring, whose boutique showcases elaborate, hand-painted pieces of clothing.

The show, in its 34th year, is widely considered to be the nation’s premier juried exhibition and sale of fine American craft, with 20% of all proceeds going to support the Smithsonian's programs. Here, supporters and members of the Smithsonian Women's Committee: Becky O'Brien, Nancy Goodman, Nancy Logan, Laura Osborne and Sharon Persinski enjoying cocktails as they browse the 80-plus craft boutiques. 

Guests at Friday's Friends Night Out enjoyed signature cocktails from four celebrated DC mixologists and bites to sample from Main Event Catering. Here, friends and women's committee members Elaine Bunn and Pam Jones. 

In addition to clothing, the boutiques also featured jewelry, leather goods and other fashionable accessories. Here, friends of one of the craft presenters, Jamie Lin with Sandy Daly and Irene Daly.
