Tableau Will Open DC Office

Tableau Software, a publicly-traded business analytics software firm in Seattle, is opening a 20k SF DC office that will have room for over 150 employees. The office at 1801 K St., NW, will open in April with about 40 people, 10 from Seattle. Tableau HR VP Brett Thompson said DC was picked for its first East coast location because of its "urban energy and feel” and a growing tech talent pool. The company also wanted to be closer to its government customers, including VA, Interior, and FEMA. Tableau will have a free recruiting happy hour on Monday at the W Hotel. (Interested people need to register.) The company, started by computer science students at Stanford in 2003, raised $254.2M from its IPO in 2013, with a $2B valuation. DC will be its 12th office.
