Is Rosie the Robot in Our Future?

Placeholder

If you grew up watching The Jetsons, you surely had dreams of having a robot maid. That reality may be close. NASA has selected MIT and Northeastern to do R&D on humanoid robots. The agency said it believes the robots can help or even take the place of astronauts working in extreme space environments. They could be used in future NASA missions to perform tasks before humans arrive or as human-assistive robots that collaborate with the human crew. The two university programs, which were chosen from DARPA’s Robotics Challenge, will receive $250k a year for two years and have access to on-site and virtual tech support from NASA.
