Placeholder

1776 has made another acquisition, this time to expand to San Fran. The DC-based startup incubator and seed fund acquired The Hattery in a cash and stock deal (price not disclosed). 1776 co-founder Evan Burfield (above) says with the acquisition, 1776 now has 1,200 startups in its global network, 38 full-time employees, 650 outside mentors and 45 corporate partners. The San Fran-based startup studio will continue operating under its own brand and will continue focusing on social ventures and helping startups master design and user experience. 1776 companies will now be able to work at Hattery's San Fran offices and have access to its experts. Hattery co-founders Josh Mendelsohn, Joshua To and Luis Arbulu will join 1776 as strategic advisers. The news follows 1776's recent acquisition of Crystal City-based Disruption and Crystal Tech Fund.
