The Montgomery County Planning Board has approved a proposal to build a 72-unit senior housing development in the northern part of the county.

Nova Habitat plans to break ground in early 2018 on the project, dubbed Victory Haven. The project sits on MD-108 near the main retail center in Damascus, an unincorporated area in upper Montgomery County

The developer had initially looked at other commercial and residential options, but after hearing from neighbors, including the Damascus United Methodist church, it decided to pursue senior housing. It brought on Victory Housing to design the project.

Seniors living at the project, expected to deliver in 2019, will be a short walk from the Damascus library and the shopping center with a Safeway, Dollar Tree, Anytime Fitness, Chipotle and several other options.
