Cushman & Wakefield has a new leader of its D.C. retail investment sales practice.

The firm hired John Owendoff, who previously worked at JLL and HFF, to serve as managing director on its D.C.-area capital markets team.

Owendoff will lead the D.C.-area retail investment sales practice for the firm. He worked at Cushman & Wakefield earlier in his career, before joining HFF in 2013. HFF was acquired by JLL this summer, and announcements on JLL retail investment sales as recently as September list Owendoff as one of the firm's brokers.

The most recent deals Owendoff brokered include the sale of several WashREIT shopping centers in the D.C. suburbs and the financing of MRP Realty's Bryant Street mixed-use development in Northeast D.C.

"I'm excited to be back at such a prominent firm in the D.C. region," Owendoff said in a release. "Cushman & Wakefield's dedication and their team's achievements are second to none, and I look forward to working with them to provide solutions for our clients around the region."

The move represents the fourth departure from JLL's D.C.-area capital markets team since September. A pair of brokers left to launch a structured finance team at Transwestern in September, three brokers joined Avison Young in early October, and another three brokers joined Newmark Knight Frank in mid-October. JLL did not respond to requests for comment.
