Changing of the Guard

Placeholder

Everyone offer a big BOMA welcome to Oliver & Co managing principal John Oliver, who took over as BOMA International chair and chief elected officer last night. Here, he’s taking the oath of office from Columbia Property Trust VP Pat Freeman, a fellow Atlantan. John (who confessed a 30-year love affair with BOMA to his wife in front of the entire audience) said he’s particularly excited about the C-Suite program, which gives the organization a chance to “shut up and learn” how property managers can better serve building owners.

John’s wife Karen, kids (including his son John, who works with him at Oliver & Co), and grandkids were on hand for the momentous occasion. Preparing for his inauguration speech, John went back to the first building he ever managed, Executive Square in Atlanta… and found a razed site. That was a shock, but he’s got plenty of other properties to look on with pride, like Aon Center in Chicago, which came under his love and care when he headed property management for Wells Real Estate Funds. (Hey, kid in the back, it was past our bedtime, too.)
