What the USGBC Plans for 2014

We caught up with the USGBC's Scot Horst, who oversees LEED. Scot tells us to expect the USGBC's revamped rating system, called LEED v4, to raise the bar this year for certification by increasing the prerequisites. He says it's already been tested with 120 projects around the world and gives LEED a badly needed update; the same rating system has been in place for 14 years. Another big push in '14 is to implement an interactive plaque in lobbies, which will show visitors real-time data on how efficient a building or space actually is. Scott says the USGBC has already installed one (officially called a LEED Dynamic Plaque) in its own DC office.
