Washington, D.C. Other

It was 83 degrees, light breeze, and cloudless sky in Manhattan yesterday and everyone went outdoors. For all the gravitational pull these days toward the Village, Lower East Side, SoHo, and Meatpacking, thousands swarmed into good old Central Park.

And no wonder why. Did you know it had so many ponds, lakes, and inlets?

That Frederick Olmsted was pretty brilliant. He figured out how to attract even bigger crowds than the Apple store.

And the modern adaptation: the huge Jackie Onassis reservoir at the northern end that doubles as a beautifully flat jogging track.
