Columbia Property Trust Lands WeWork At 80 M St SE

WeWork's rapid expansion in the area has not included any locations in Southwest or Southeast DC, until now.
The co-working provider has signed a 69k SF lease with Columbia Property Trust at its 80 M St SE office building, above.
Columbia also recently signed Gryphon Technologies for a 24k SF renewal and brought in General Dynamics Information Technology to occupy 15k SF, bringing the 285k SF Capitol Riverfront office building to 85% leased.
Upon signing WeWork, Columbia will begin a $3M renovation of the building, creating a dedicated entrance and lobby for the co-working space, plus an outdoor terrace, a similar setup to the one Vornado created for WeWork in Dupont Circle. The lease is for 15 years and WeWork plans to open the space in Q3 2017.
“Our intention with this renovation is to mirror [the Capitol Riverfront's] vitality while cultivating an environment that appeals to this new generation of office tenant as we work to fill the building’s remaining availability,” Columbia president/CEO Nelson Mills said in a release.
