WETA Considers Moving From Shirlington Production Facility

Placeholder

Arlington's public broadcaster, WETA, has filmed its programs from 3620 27th St S in Shirlington (above) since 1972, but that could soon change.

The broadcaster is looking to move its production to a new building, and it could also leave its HQ office at 3939 Campbell Ave in Shirlington, the Washington Business Journal reports.

Since it owns both buildings, WETA does not have the time constraint of an expiring lease. The station is working with Avision Young's Marty Almquist, who tells the WBJ the current facility is old and physically limiting for WETA's production.

With the search still in its early stages, the scope is unknown, but WETA expects to have a better idea of where it's looking in the fall. It has been quite the August for office owners looking to land a broadcaster: Radio One declared itself on the market for up to 100k SF just last week. [WBJ]
