Marriott Selects JLL To Help With HQ Search

Marriott International has found some help for its ongoing search for a new HQ.

The hotel giant has selected JLL to help whittle down the prospects for its new digs. JLL was selected from a short list that included CBRE and Savills Studley, the Washington Business Journal reports.

Marriott’s 1M SF lease at 10400 Fernwood Rd is set to expire in 2021. The company announced plans to relocate last year, sparking a frenzy amongst both the brokerage community and local officials hoping to lure it to their necks of the woods. Marriott has explored a range of options for a new HQ, including the possibility that it may wind up in more than one building.

At the top of Marriott’s wish list is a Metro-accessible site that would appeal to younger employees, possibly in an urban setting. The company is expected to attract a generous incentive package wherever it winds up, perhaps in the range of the $60M in tax breaks the Advisory Board received from the District, maybe more. Marriott is aiming to make a decision on its new corporate home by the end of 2016[WBJ]
