Senate Confirms New GSA Director Roth

Placeholder

The GSA's acting director has been confirmed for the full-time job. Yesterday, the US Senate confirmed Denise Turner Roth, who had been acting administrator since Feb. 23. Roth joined the GSA as deputy administrator less than a year before ascending to the top of the totem pole after serving as Greensboro, NC's city manager. She's no stranger to DC, even before coming to the federal government's real estate agency. She worked in former Rep. Jim Moran's office (he was Arlington and Alexandria's longtime congressman before retiring last year) and worked in DC's department of transportation and under Mayor Anthony Williams. As top dog, it's her job to deal with GSA's major leasing backlog, and the continue the space crunch for the millions of square feet of office under her purview.
