601 Mass, 1200 17th Right On Schedule

Washington, D.C. Office

Yesterday, we caught up with the folks behind two of DC's biggest office projects for an update. Over at 601 Massachusetts Ave—the future HQ for law firm Arnold & Porter—Boston Properties' Jon KaylorJake Stroman, and Anne DuMont tell us work is on schedule to finish the 478k SF building by Q3 '15, when A&P is slated to move into 375k SF. The group says marketing of the remaining space isn't fully engaged, since A&P may need more square feet. But some other activity could be happening soon with 601 Mass' ground floor retail space—the guys tell us an LOI is pending with a "a nationally renowned restaurant group for a flagship concept."

We also snapped Akridge/Mitsui Fudosan's 169k SF 1200 17th yesterdaycan't you tell by the way the sky infers it's a pre-Fallon Tonight Show world? Everything's on point for work to be finished this June, and Akridge's Ben Meisel (who's handling leasing with colleague Greg Tomasso) tells us anchor tenant Pillsbury will move in to its 105k SF there on January 1, 2015. (Happy New Year! Now grab a box.) A mixture of law firms, corporate government affairs offices, and high-end associations have been checking out the remaining space, Ben tells us, with the column-free floor plates a big hit.
