DC's Hottest Neighborhood?

According to WAMU, it's Woodridge. No, not Woodbridge. The one without the "b" is located along Rhode Island Avenue in Ward 5. Washingtonian magazine's pick of Woodridge as one of DC’s best neighborhoods to buy a home might inspire visions of the stereotypical gentrification story, but that’s not the case, reports WAMU. Rather, residents of Woodridge are at the helm of their neighborhood’s transformation, starting with a goal to get a coffee shop in 2011. Now they have Zeke’s, and life is springing back into the quiet, suburban community. And long vacant storefronts aren’t the only things with some extra pep in their steps. In housing, median sale prices leapt one-third in January from a year earlier. Best of all, residents are excited about the revitalization, as long as they stay involved. [WAMU]
