National Harbor is already well-known in the D.C. area as a popular entertainment and shopping destination. But beyond taking a ride on The Capital Wheel or playing the slots at MGM National Harbor Casino & Resort, people are flocking to the waterfront community for a complete live-work-play experience.

Not only are companies attracted to the growing inventory of Class-A office buildings, area residents have also looked to the Prince George's County community to either buy their first homes or downsize.

The Haven, the first condominium development to be constructed at National Harbor since 2008, will bring 248 luxury condos online in a market with a general lack of for-sale supply. Since Peterson Cos. announced the project, more than 1,300 people have already expressed interest in The Haven.

Nestled above National Harbor’s downtown area, The Haven combines the serenity of a spa with the excitement of an urban community. Every residence comes with high-quality finishes, secure underground parking and access to amenities often seen in the hospitality industry.

The pool at The Haven will feature a patio for sun tanning and private cabanas. Residents can also get in shape in an expansive, professionally equipped fitness center and yoga studio that opens onto the courtyard. They also have access to 24-hour concierge services and a lounge.

The Haven emphasizes communal gathering spaces, making it easy to connect with friends or make a great first impression on visitors. Residents can enjoy outdoor lounge seating with year-round lawn games, as well as a gourmet outdoor kitchen with seating areas and fire pits. Amenities also include a pet spa and grooming station, private bike storage and landscaped courtyards.

“National Harbor provides its own sense of place and community,” Peterson Cos. Senior Vice President of Residential Stuart Prince said. “The 2,000 current residents enjoy a host of water activities, morning yoga on the waterfront plaza and a variety of community concerts and special events."

Residents of The Haven also have the option to keep a boat within walking distance at the National Harbor Marina.

For rainy days, groups can gather in an expansive clubroom featuring an open kitchen, flat screens, lounge seating and a billiards table. WiFi is available in all common areas and a cyber lounge is available for hours of undisturbed work. Residents can stay productive in the cyber lounge while taking in sweeping views of the Potomac River and National Harbor waterfront area throughout the property. Residents also have National Harbor’s more than 160 shops, over 40 restaurants and two of the largest spas in the mid-Atlantic steps from their doors.

Median sales prices in D.C. have risen to $625K in Q3, a year-over-year increase of 14%, according to Trulia. The Haven offers extraordinary value in the region, Prince said. With its amenities and convenient transportation to D.C., Alexandria and Maryland locations, The Haven will draw residents looking for a complete urban experience.

Peterson Cos. expects to see demand from a cross-section of the marketplace, from young professionals to boat owners looking for a summer pied-à-terre.

"Nowhere along the Beltway can you buy a new and modern luxury condominium in the mid-$200,000s and have all these amenities right at your doorstep,” McWilliams Ballard principal Chris Ballard said.

Sales began this fall, and Peterson Cos. expects to complete the building in summer 2018.
