The NRP Group has broken ground on its second D.C.-area development since the coronavirus pandemic began.

The developer announced Tuesday it began construction on the 390-unit Highland District Project near the McLean Metro station in Tysons. It expects to deliver the project in the summer of 2022.

PointOne Holdings is partnering with The NRP Group on the five-story apartment project. The team obtained a construction loan from Fifth Third Bank.

At 1768 Old Meadow Road, it sits about a half-mile from the McLean Metro station. It is also within a half-mile of the Capital One and Mitre headquarters and the Scotts Run mixed-use development.

The project's planned amenities include a fitness center with spin and cardio studios, a clubhouse, workspaces, outdoor grilling areas, yoga lawns and a swimming pool.

"The transformation of Tysons Corner from one of the world's largest office parks to a world-class, mixed-use, walkable community is well underway," NRP Group Vice President of Development Josh Woolridge said in a release. "We're seeing tremendous growth in the Tysons area and our new upscale community will add to that momentum."

The groundbreaking comes after NRP Group March 27 broke ground on a 354-unit development near the Greenbelt Metro station in Prince George's County. Several developers have continued to begin projects during the pandemic as D.C., Maryland and Virginia have allowed construction to continue.
