Are Georgetown’s Institutional Buildings Disappearing?

Much like your college buddy who started drinking protein shakes and lifting weights to show up at your door looking like John Cena, Georgetown is undergoing a transformation, Georgetown Metropolitan reports. The $14M Fillmore School listing (above) could be the newest condo conversion to join the adaptive re-use movement dubbed “The Decommissioning of Georgetown,” which seems to target the neighborhood’s major non-residential properties in residential areas. A few other examples include Hurt Home, a former home for the blind-turned-foster home that's now a 15-unit condo project, The Montrose; Alexander Memorial Baptist Church, which will be converted into condos; and the Eastbanc condo project to be built on the site of the former Key Bridge Exxon. In light of this trend, are buildings like the Jackson School on R Street next? Insert dramatic music of doom here.
