Metro Wants To Build Near Braddock Road Station

WMATA wants to take advantage of the 2.1-acre lot it owns next to the Braddock Road Metro stop in Alexandria.

The city has no restrictions on what the transit agency can build. Although a recent report by WMATA said a likely project would be a combination of a 200-unit condo, a hotel with 100 to 200 rooms, and a retail space, according to the Washington Business Journal. The parcel currently has a Kiss & Ride facility and bus loop, which would be replaced by any new development.

WMATA has also requested planning proposals for development around other Metro stations like Fort Totten, Capitol Heights, College Park, Congress Heights, Petworth, U Street and The Navy Yard, along with others. [WBJ]
