Wilkes Co Plans Mixed-Use NoMa Development

After decades of sitting on a 67k SF plot at 300 M St NE, between NoMa and Union Market, The Wilkes Co is finally ready to take proposed plans before the DC Zoning Commission on Feb. 9, reports District Source. The goal's to create a mixed-use development (above) with about 401 residential units and 13k SF of ground-floor retail, blocks from the NoMa Metro station’s southern exit. Wilkes is hoping for a PUD and rezoning of the commercial site to accommodate the residential aspect of the project. The Hickok Cole-designed development will decrease in height toward its southern edge along M Street and the east side of 4th Street to fit in with the three-story townhomes in that area. Meanwhile, architect Sophia Lau tells District Source ground-floor retail will consist of small bays for local retailers. Don't forget, our Bisnow NoMa Summit is this coming Tuesday morning!
