JBG, Gallaudet Plan Massive New Development in NoMa

JBG Cos and Gallaudet University are planning a massive new 1.1M SF mixed-use development along 6th Street NE.

The project will be constructed in four phases on four parcels adjacent to Gallaudet University and Union Market and will include office, residential, retail and university support space. The area around Union Market and Gallaudet has been mentioned as a potential hot neighborhood of the future. Plans for the first stage call for 134k SF of retail, 1,800 residential units and 63k SF of office, with some affordable housing units included.

JBG and Gallaudet will need approval to rezone the parcels before construction can begin. An international design competition will be launched this fall to create a new Gateway Plaza with green spaces, landmark building and a visitor’s pavilion. [Curbed]
