Former Tysons Ford Site to Become Integrated Community

A year after shelling out $26.5M for Kip Killmon's Tysons Ford at 8201 Leesburg Pike (pictured), Garrett Cos. has applied to rezone the site for a 600k SF six-story mixed-use development. This begins the transformation of Tysons Corner into a walkable, transit-oriented community. The $140M project calls for 460 to 500 residential units; 80.6k SF of urban grocery; 30k SF of restaurants; and 6k SF of retail, the Washington Business Journal reports. The community will also have a central plaza, several pocket parks, a four-level parking garage, bicycle parking, a fitness center and juice bar, a swimming pool, a dog park and a pet spa. [WBJ]
