D.C.'s Fox affiliate plans to cross the border into Montgomery County in 2021, and a new development is being envisioned for the Friendship Heights property it will vacate.

Donohoe Cos. presented plans to Advisory Neighborhood Commission 3E last month to build 280 apartments and 17K SF of retail on the site at 5151 Wisconsin Ave. NW, Urban Turf reports

WTTG Fox 5 signed a deal in 2017 to lease 58K SF at Carr Properties' Apex Building in Downtown Bethesda, where it plans to move in June 2021. Donohoe is proposing to demolish Fox's office building and radio tower after it vacates.

The developer then plans to construct a six-story building along Wisconsin Avenue with 230 apartments and ground-floor retail, plus a four-story building with adjacent three-story flats facing 42nd Street. The developer has not yet filed its plans with the District, but it aims to file a planned-unit development application in 2020.

Donohoe has at least two other residential projects planned along the Wisconsin Avenue corridor. It plans to convert a former Fannie Mae building at 4000 Wisconsin Ave. NW into a 716-unit mixed-use development, and it plans to build a 22-story condo tower on the site of a hardware store at 7800 Wisconsin Ave. in Bethesda.
