691-Unit Eckington Project Moves Ahead

A 691-unit project developed by Boundary Cos and JBG, near the intersection of New York and Florida avenues NE, has received approval for further review by the Zoning Commission.

The project encompasses four buildings on the former site of an industrial train yard at 1611-1619 Eckington Place NE and 1500 Harris Thomas Way NE.

Most units will be marketed to singles and couples, with 49 studios, 126 junior one-beds, 229 one-bedrooms and 190 two-bedrooms, UrbanTurf reports. However, there will also be 21 three-bedroom units and 76 multi-level units with two or three bedrooms.

Also included in the Eric Colbert & Associates-designed project will be 50k SF of retail space spread between two of the four buildings, and 292 parking spaces. Most of the retail will be in the project's largest building, Flower Center North, which will be 110 feet tall. The other buildings top out at 75 feet. [UT]
