DC-based Starr Capital has submitted plans for a 173-room hotel in the heart of Silver Spring.

The hotel, rendered above, will be on Silver Spring's most prominent intersection, the corner of Georgia Avenue and Colesville Road, Greater Greater Washington reports.

Starr formed a JV with SV Hospitality and Petroleum Market Group in August to develop the 14-story, 147k SF hotel. The hotel will have a rooftop deck and bar, 5k SF of meeting space and 4k SF of ground-floor retail, including a coffee shop. The development is slated to break ground in December 2017.

No flag has been announced for the hotel yet, but SV Hospitality is managed by a 35-year Marriott International veteran, Lee LaRochelle.

Two blocks away, Grosvenor Americas has been working on a 243-unit mixed-use building on the former site of the First Baptist Church, slated to deliver in fall 2017. [GGW]
