We came across this warning and felt it was our duty to pass it on. The gist: Slow down. Yesterday the Metropolitan Police Department put up speed cameras in five new locations, DCist reported. Of course, there's a 30-day warning period where speed demons will get a mere warning citation, but after that fines will be doled out.

Here are the locations:

25 MPH

1. District 1, 700 block of Maryland Ave NE southwestbound

2. District 2, 2600 block of Wisconsin Ave NW northbound

3. District 2, 4400 block of Reservoir Rd NW eastbound

5. District 5, 2400 block of 18th St NE southbound

30 MPH

6. District 6, 3000 block of Pennsylvania Ave SE northwestbound
