Savills Studley is aiming to expand its workplace strategy and research efforts with two new hires.

Sarah Dreyer comes from Vornado/Charles E. Smith, where she led the company's DC market research. Her departure comes as Vornado prepares to merge its DC business with The JBG Cos in an $8.4B deal to form JBG Smith. As director of research, she will oversee Savills Studley's DC-area research activity. Before Vornado, Dreyer led Cushman & Wakefield's Mid-Atlantic research team, focusing on the DC, Baltimore and Philadelphia markets.

The firm also hired Dave MacPhail as director of workplace occupancy and strategy to help Savills Studley's clients analyze locations and space requirements. MacPhail previously led real estate portfolio strategy development for Deloitte Consulting in Arlington. Before that, he led design and construction projects for the University of Virginia Medical Center.

“David’s background in commercial real estate and architecture brings a unique combination of skills that will be a tremendous asset to our firm’s growing Workplace and Occupancy Strategy division," Savills Studley executive vice president Gary Stein said in a release, "while Sarah’s deep understanding of the regional market and strong financial acumen will work to [the] benefit of our clients."
