Potomac Yard Metro Site Chosen

The Alexandria City Council has gone with the city staff's recommendation and unanimously selected Alternative B for the Potomac Yard Metro station. The $268M plan has the best potential for new developments, jobs and tax revenue. Alternative B will be an at-grade station east of the CSX tracks and close to the North Potomac Yard shopping center, the city announced. The station will be along the Yellow and Blue lines between the Braddock Road and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport stations. The resulting growth in the Potomac Yard area is expected to generate up to 26,000 new jobs and bring 13,000 new residents near the station, while also reducing traffic. A final Net Benefits Agreement with the Park Service is still in the works, but the city has already agreed to commit $12M to help improve the George Washington Memorial Parkway.
