The General Services Administration is officially moving forward with its previously announced plans to find a new home for the Drug Enforcement Agency.

A presolicitation seeking at least 478k SF starting in October 2018 has been posted on the agency’s website. The search could expand to sites as large as 575k SF, the Washington Business Journal reports.

The DEA currently makes its home at 600-700 Army Navy Dr in Pentagon City, where the agency occupies 503k SF in a lease set to expire in September 2018. The property, called Lincoln Place, is owned by an affiliate of the California State Teachers' Retirement System.

The Army Navy Drive location houses nearly 2,500 employees, and also includes a visitor center and museum. The GSA previously announced the search for a new DEA HQ last December via a prospectus posted on site.

Elsewhere in GSA land, he agency continues to work through the ongoing saga of finding a new home for the Transportation Security Administration, which will likely result in the TSA staying put in Pentagon City for now. An amended search for the TSA HQ carries an expiration date of April 14. [WBJ]
