Bethesda's Mushroom House Finds a Buyer

The four-bedroom, three-bathroom home that looks like it was specially designed for Papa Smurf has sold for $920k. The Allan Road dwelling was listed at $1.2M. The two-story stucco was transformed into its current likeness by previous owners Edward and Frances Garfinkel, who moved into the home in 1967, and commissioned futuristic architect Roy Mason to work his magic, BethesdaNow reports. The home was featured in Bethesda Magazine in 2013, where Ed Garfinkel revealed that the costly remodel did a number on them financially. [BethNow]
