Vietnam Veteran's Story

Washington, D.C.
Placeholder

We heard from another military vet working in DC real estate: John Protopappas, a J Street Cos. principal. He served over two years in the Army, first in DC on riot control in 1968 and then as a pilot in Vietnam for over a year, eventually leaving as a captain. When he saw the real estate guys making more money than he was as a consultant (with a background in land planning), he sold his firm and got a job with Stanley Martin Homes in land acquisition and sales. He’s now in charge of J Street land sales and recently helped sell 1718 Connecticut Ave. John, snapped on a ski trip in Beaver Creek last year, has six land deals under contract--two in Virginia and four in Maryland--and serves as editor of the tour book Washington On Foot.
