John Graham's Letter To Indiana

Placeholder

ASAE President John Graham (above) sent a letter to Indiana Gov Mike Pence this week asking him to change language in the state’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act passed Thursday. The controversial bill allows for-profit businesses to assert a right to “the free exercise of religion.” The federal RFRA and most other state RFRAs don’t contain such a statute. John’s letter wants the governor to clarify “that the law does not allow any discrimination of any kind against any segment of the population.” John also wrote that the law puts association members at risk of being denied service and could create an unwelcoming environment for residents and visitors to the state.
