As part of its affordable housing initiative, the DC government is providing bond financing and tax credits for a new affordable housing building in Ward 5.

Mayor Muriel Bowser and other officials broke ground Tuesday morning on an $11M affordable housing project at 2613-2615 Bladensburg Road NE, Washington City Paper reports.

The five-story building will have 25 one-bedroom units and eight two-bedrooms. They are reserved for area residents making up to 60% of area median income, which last year would come to $66k for a family of four and $52k for a family of two.

The building sits between South Dakota and New York Avenues NE on the site of two vacant homes. The DC Housing Finance Agency provided $5.3M in bond financing and the District also provided $3.2M in low-income tax credits. [WCP]
