5 Vancouver Mixed-Use Projects to Watch This Summer

Few places do mixed-use better than land-constrained Metro Vancouver, where a host of high-profile projects are under construction this summer. Here are five key developments we're tracking.

1. Aquilini Centre West

Location: 97 West Georgia St

Developer: Aquilini Development and Construction

Specs: A 26-storey tower with 197 rental suites and 106k SF of office space over nine levels. First three floors will include an expanded Rogers Arena concourse, with retail and food/beverage services.

Estimated completion: This quarter.

2. Marine Gateway

Location: Cambie Street and SW Marine Drive

Developer: PCI Developments

Specs: Two residential towers with 415 condo suites and 46 dedicated rental units; a 14-floor, 250k SF office building (Westport Innovations is an anchor) and high street with Loblaws, Winners and Steve Nash Fitness World.

Estimated completion: This fall.

3. The HUB at King George Station

Location: Adjacent to King George Station, Surrey.

Developer: PCI Developments

Specs: 495k SF of LEED Gold office space (Coast Capital Savings will be the anchor), as well as 350k SF of retail and 1.2M SF of residential. The development will be carried out over four phases.

Estimated delivery: First phase slated to open this fall.

4. 745 Thurlow St

Location: Thurlow and Alberni streets, across from the Shangri-La Hotel.

Developer: Bentall Kennedy | bcIMC

Specs: 25-storey building with 20 floors (365k SF) of office space, with tenants including McCarthy Tétrault and SNC-Lavalin. The first three levels will be occupied by retail and amenities.

Estimated delivery: This summer.

5. SOLO District Office

Location: South of Lougheed Highway (hence, SOLO) at Willingdon Avenue, Burnaby.

Developer: Appia Development

Specs: A master planned community with four residential towers and 1,400 residences; retail including Whole Foods Market; and a 12 storey, 230k SF office building that's steps from Brentwood SkyTrain Station

Estimated completion: Q1 2016.
