The Coolest Food-Court Chandelier in Canada

Placeholder

Square One Shopping Centre has one heck of a chandelier hanging in its new dining room. Last week, property manager and co-owner Oxford Properties unveiled Lambent, a 40-foot tall, LED-lit stainless steel installation that's suspended in the dome above the Mississauga mall’s fully renovated and expanded food court (part of Square One's ongoing redevelopment). Created by Canadian artists Daniel Young and Christian Giroux, Lambent—with nine light patterns, 3,000 LED lights (be sure to turn it off when you leave the room, or your father's going to be extra mad) and weighing 6,500 pounds—is the pair’s largest and most ambitious work to date. The industrial-scale chandelier’s perforated skin reveals illuminated artwork within that comes to life at night.
