From Golf Clubs to Condos: Glen Abbey Owner Proposes Major Redevelopment

Glen Abbey Golf Club owner ClubLink Corp has filed a request to turn the 230-acre course—home to 27 Canadian Opens—into a mixed-use community with 3,000 homes, office space and retail.

There is no provision for a golf course in the plan, the Globe and Mail reports, noting the filing, revealed by Oakville Mayor Rob Burton at a council meeting Monday, is the first step in a process that could take years.

“What we are doing is…protecting the future zoning,” ClubLink CEO Rai Sahi, who also runs Morguard Corp, told the paper. “When that might get developed is some time in the future. It could be five years, 10 years. This is just a very preliminary thing." [G&M]
