A new waterfront park and trail have opened on the former site of Ontario Place, the first phase of a large revitalization project for the former exhibition and entertainment facility, which operated till 2012.

The 7.5-acre Trillium Park and William G. Davis Trail — designed by a team led by LANDinc Landscape Architects — replaced a parking lot. The new park features 1,200 newly planted trees, a 1.3-kilometre trail, an open-air pavilion, a pebble beach, a campfire circle and 1,700 tons of granite boulders used for everything from retaining walls to benches.

No finishing date has been given for the next phase of the project, which will include a mix of outdoor and indoor areas featuring a live music venue and restaurants.
