CPEX Lends A Hand To Nonprofit Committed To Empowering The Underserved

Alec Berkman, Bisnow National

The CPEX sales and leasing team recently negotiated a lease with nonprofit organization NPower for new space in Brooklyn. NPower makes an impact that positively reverberates across the communities in which it establishes a presence by mobilizing the tech community to provide individuals, nonprofits and schools with the opportunities to hone their tech skills and achieve their potential in a competitive environment that demands digital literacy.

NPower drives positive and proven social change across the country with a proven approach. A full 80% of its alumni are employed or pursuing higher education within a year of graduating. Its success can be attributed to the fact that it remains sensitive to employers evolving needs, and designs comprehensive curricula tailored to meeting those needs.

It provides rigorous training, internship opportunities and professional development aid to people who are under or unemployed, imbuing them with a valuable skill set that positions them for successful careers as IT professionals. Its online platform reflects its goal of inspiring the next generation of STEM professionals, and the progress it's made since its inception in 1999.

NPower is based in Metrotech Center in Downtown Brooklyn, and will open a second Brooklyn location in the community facility space at 50 Greene Ave in Fort Greene (above). NPower plans to use the space as a training and administrative center.

“We are excited to help prominent nonprofits find space to continue their mission,” CPEX associate director Richard Novak says. “They are not only great tenants, but they also do great work.”

At CPEX, real estate professionals focus on a single asset class, allowing them to become specialized experts in their designated field. Richard and Rosanna (above) form a dynamic duo that works exclusively on the sale and lease of office properties.

They recently completed eight leases of office space with Acadia Realty Trust, housing an ad agency in a 4,250 SF space in the Gowanus neighborhood and completing a lease with Aurora Energy Advisors for nearly 5670 SF at one of five buildings owned by Acadia between Avenues Y and Z on Nostrand in Sheepshead Bay. That 70k SF Acadia property spans the full block. Together, Richard and Rosanna are tackling more than two dozen assignments.
