Indoor golf and entertainment concept Five Iron Golf is opening a flagship location at The Plaza Coral Gables developed by the Mexican billionaire's development firm, Agave Holdings.

The New York City-based chain plans to open the 30K SF space in early 2026, according to a release. It would be Five Iron's first location in Florida, a spokesperson said, although plans are also underway for locations in Coconut Grove, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, Orlando, Tampa and Jacksonville.

The location will have 12 golf simulators, 12 bowling lanes, indoor and outdoor space for golf and entertainment, a restaurant, a bar and private event space.

“Five Iron Golf brings a new dimension of energy and experience to The Plaza Coral Gables,” Agave Holdings executive Gregory Schwartz said in a statement. “Their innovative approach to entertainment and hospitality enhances our vision of a destination that offers something for everyone — residents, professionals and visitors alike.”

There are currently 34 Five Iron Golf locations across 15 states and five countries, but the company is in the middle of an expansion with 50 new locations across the U.S. under development. The Coral Gables flagship will be owned by franchise partners Peter McCormick, Alex Zega, Matt Csillag and David Zabinsky.

The Plaza Coral Gables is a mixed-use development at 2811 Ponce de Leon Blvd. completed in 2022 by Agave Holdings and run and operated by the Beckmann family.

The project includes a 242-key Loews Hotel, 170 residences and 165K SF of retail space. Its office component — two towers totaling 455K SF — reached full occupancy last month following leases by CBIZ, ALTI, and Baycrest Partners, the South Florida Business Journal reported. Apple signed a 42K SF lease at the project last year.

Agave also owns 396 Alhambra, which houses FIFA’s regional headquarters for the incoming 2026 World Cup, and the First Citizens Bank Tower condominium in Coconut Grove. The Miami-based firm has additional developments in Chicago and Minneapolis.

Agave Holdings didn't respond to Bisnow’s request for comment.
