Uber Doubling Miami Office Space In Blackstone-Owned Building
Uber has signed a deal to expand its Miami office, a sign that the area is still attracting new investment from technology companies.

The San Francisco-based rideshare and food delivery app company signed a 13K SF lease at 3 MiamiCentral, Bisnow has learned.
The deal doubles the footprint Uber has at the building, at 161 NW Sixth St., after it signed a 13K SF lease in August 2021. Blackstone purchased the 2 and 3 MiamiCentral office buildings for $230M in 2021.
“We're excited to be expanding our footprint in South Florida,” an Uber spokesperson told Bisnow in a statement. “This continued investment helps support our growing team and reflects Uber's deep commitment to the region as a hub for innovation, operations, and growth.”
Uber's deal was first revealed in Savills’ second-quarter office report, which showed the 13K SF new lease as one of the biggest deals struck in Miami between April and June.
“Uber’s expansion reinforces our continued belief in MiamiCentral and the broader Miami market, which benefits from strong demographic tailwinds and a deep talent pool,” a Blackstone spokesperson said in a statement. “MiamiCentral’s premier amenities and proximity to the Brightline make it an ideal modern workplace.”
Uber initially planned to employ 70 people at 3 MiamiCentral. It first opened a Miami office in 2015, setting up shop in 9,333 SF at the 33-story Brickell City Tower before moving to MiamiCentral, The Real Deal reported.
Blanca Commercial Real Estate, led by Tere Blanca, represented Blackstone in the lease. Blanca didn't respond to a request for comment. CBRE, which represented Uber in the transaction, also didn't respond to Bisnow’s request for comment.
The 12-story 3 MiamiCentral has 100K SF of rentable office space, up to 44K of which is available, and 35K SF of retail, according to a Blanca CRE listing.
The five-building MiamiCentral development spans six city blocks around the Brightline, Metromover, Metrorail and Tri-Rail stations. 1 MiamiCentral has 280 residences and 250 hotel rooms. 2 Miami Central has 190K SF of rentable office across its 10 floors with Brightline, Moss and Associates and EY as tenants. The 44- and 47-story apartment towers atop the MiamiCentral station hold more than 800 residential units.
CORRECTION, July 3, 11:45 A.M. ET: An earlier version of this article misstated the rentable square footage of 3 MiamiCentral and incorrectly listed Regus as a current tenant. The article also incorrectly stated that 1 MiamiCentral includes office space. The story has been updated.
