San Jose And Santa Clara Set To Face Off In Court

Placeholder

San Jose and Santa Clara are in open legal war over the CityPlace project. The City of San Jose sued Santa Clara, citing the “profound” negative regional environmental impact in a California Environmental Quality Act complaint.

The $6.5B project was planned by The Related Cos as a hub of hotels, retail and offices in Santa Clara, reports the Silicon Valley Business Journal. Santa Clara Mayor Lisa Gillmore was unhappy with San Jose’s decision to sue and said San Jose’s poor planning should be blamed instead. San Jose alleges the job growth associated with the project will exacerbate the region’s housing crisis. [SVBJ]
