Prometheus, Shorenstein Plan San Jose Mixed-Use Redevelopment

Placeholder

Prometheus Real Estate Group and Shorenstein plan a huge redevelopment for the former Garden City Casino (most recently operating as Rockbar Theater) and Harry's Hofbrau site in San Jose.

The project would build a mixed-use center on the 15-acre site at the corner of Saratoga Avenue and Stevens Creek Boulevard. The project could include more than 300k SF of office, 870 apartments and 15k SF of retail, according to the Silicon Valley Business Journal.

The developers are under contract to buy the land and could soon submit plans to the city. The developers are seeking approval as a signature project, which allows projects that add job growth and public amenities to move forward more quickly (housing construction in the city's urban villages is planned in phases).

The city has tried to limit housing development in its general plan to create a better balance between jobs and housing. Other proposed projects also are seeking signature status. [SVBJ]
