Skanska Gets the Goods for YouthBuild

In March, Skanska’s Seattle office held a competition to see who could gather the most basic-need items for the participants of YouthBuild, which provides at-risk and homeless Seattle youth the skills they need for living-wage jobs in construction. Items like work boots, work gloves, socks, and food were delivered to YouthCare by the trunkful this week.

The program is an official Preferred Entry Program of Union Apprenticeships, so someone without a college degree can get apprentice-level employment right away, eventually leading to more advanced positions and well-paying jobs. Last year, 76% of YouthBuild participants were employed within three months of completing the program.
